Comments about LocoGringo Casa Salvaje:

We loved this house! There were 5 of us, 4 adults and one 3-year-old. The pool and its proximity to the beach can't be beat. Hmmm...pool, beach, or both! The interior of the house is lovely, with nice Mexican art everywhere and photos of others who have enjoyed the house before. The staff is so nice and friendly, although our Spanish is mediocre at best so there was a lot of hand signs and pointing for communication! Our son loved the pool and the volleyball net next door. The beach out front cannot be beat...very swimmable, only a few rocks that are easily spotted. Great snorkeling only a few yards out. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, very well equipped. Just watch out for the falling coconuts out by the pool, yikes!! Also reassuring that there is overnight security so we felt very safe. Also loved the garden entrance...beautiful plants and foliage line the pathway making for a very serene environment. Loved it...already planning another trip!

Comments about LocoGringo Casa Salvaje:

When planning our family reunion vacation (15 people coming from California and two parts of Mexico) , I researched locations for weeks...resorts, villas, etc. I was nervous that Casa Salvaje would
not live up to the internet description... I couldn't be more pleased!!!

The house is the PERFECT beach house! Each room has a large comfortable bed with a private bath (no waiting for showers), the pool and beach are right outside the back door, yet the landscaping adds character and separation (compared to other villas on the same beach which were stark and square). The entrance is a winding private garden that sets you off from the road, and offers another gathering area away from the ocean. The kids spent all day and night in the pool or in the ocean. There is a reef with a TON of fish, squid and turtles straight out the back door...no need to pay someone to take you out. It's all right there (tip-the beach bar several houses down will rent you snokel gear). The most amazing thing were the giant turtles! They come to shore about 10pm and the naturalists are out to educate you. We even had a nest of babies hatch right in our backyard and the kids got to help guide them to the water (without touching!)

Outings might include a trip to Tulum, only 15 minutes south, or one of the many cenote tours. There are boats to take you out all along the coast...they'll find you. The little pueblito of Akumal Beach is two exits north and has a great beach cantina, little shops and some restaurants.

The kitchen is well equipped. There are no markets close by- do your shopping at the large market in Puerto Aventuras about 15 minutes north. Buy your tortillas fresh from a tortillerilla in one of the little towns. Oh, and plan ahead because you can't buy alcohol after 5pm on Sundays.

The staff is amazing! Betty is the maid and is so nice and tolerant of all the family mayhem (the other review about cleanliness - it's a beach house so there will always be sand!) She did a great job of picking up after us. Sergio the gardener cleaned the pool and beach area every day, not an easy task. And there is a night watchman who keeps an eye out from dusk to dawn (and alerts if there is turtle action).

The internet connection can be maddening...sometimes it works and sometimes not. And the AC is wonderful in every bedroom but there is only a fan in the kitchen and its super hot.

In all, I can't wait to go back! The week goes by fast so you can't do everything in one trip.

Comments about LocoGringo Casa Salvaje:

We have been to Casa Salvaje several times and have loved it everytime. the internet worked great for us. WE love the beach seeing the turtles hatch on the beach and mostly the big turtles coming up to lay the eggs at night.

The house was clean and the staff was great.

The staff was great and we enjoyed fresh coconut right off the trees.
mostly just enjoyed playing on the beach and snorkling just in front of the house. The best part was it was free... The kids did some wave surfing, volleyball, kiteflying and snorkling right in front of the house.
