The property is beautiful, clean and the caretakers were very industrious. We lost water one night and if we had told the caretaker immediately we would have had it restored right away since it was a switch on a pump. The internet was off and on so we went to our friends at Casa Aurora to use internet frequently.
Comments about LocoGringo Villa Quinta del Mar:
We had the most lovely time at Quinta del Mar! The house is just perfect, perched on the edge of the sea... from the end of the coral path one can easily swim to yal ku lagoon, or out to the table rock and see all kinds of sea life. The pool is refreshing in the day and warm in the cool evening breezes. We used the patio all the time. There is a well equipped kitchen. A couple of sweet white cats visit the house, and were given a bowl of milk in the mornings. We plan on a return visit as soon as possible. Mexico is just magical, and we are simply enchanted!

Comments about LocoGringo Villa Quinta del Mar:
Spacious private rooms with locks, good size kitchen, good for entertaining/lounging outside at patio and bbq, easy access to lagoon/snorkeling/gear, neighbors can easily come over to swim rinse/outside, not need to go to beach with pool and water just a few feet away, gorgeous scenery
Good driving directions sent prior via email, friendly genuine staff on arrival waiting, any minor problems were tended to right away, staff there 24/7 for your needs, staff very knowledgable about things to do/see, and flexible for your schedule. Marleen and Santiago are amazing .. and Excellent Manager too !
Comments about LocoGringo Villa Quinta del Mar:
Over all we really enjoyed out stay.
We love the location on Yal-Ku Lagoon and we love the little village of Akumal.
Definitely enjoyed the patio/pool area alot and the overall privacy from neighboring Villas.
There were 6 of us and we had plenty of room, except when trying to relax in the livingroom area. The couches/banquettes were not very comfortable for relaxing (hard) and the 2 little leather chairs weren't really suited for relaxing.
All the windows leaked like crazy in the rain. (Property manager said they were about to start replacing with new).
The kitchen could have been a bit better equipted for guests who wanted to prepare real meals for a family. More, better cooking utensils and serving dishes.
A few plumbing issues.Even though paper is never flushed there was an occasional problem just getting solid waste to go down. I imagine this is fairly typical since this is a small, local village and not some big modern resort area.
The property management staff was friendly and helpful.
The caretaking couple were friendly, hardworking and they both did a great job.
But....the housekeeper was there everyday(except Sundays) for several hours. And even though she was quiet and tried to be unobstrusive, having someone there for hours each day was intrusive. We tried to convey through the manager that we were happy to make our own beds, do our own dishes and such, but she still came. we would have preferred less daily cleaning and more privacy. In future wou might want to ask guest which they prefer. Daily ? Every other day? Etc.
