We just returned from and an amazing week in Tankah.
Just after we booked the case we read a review which really slammed Villa Paloma. Bad beds, water pressure, kitchen appliances, bad everything. We contacted Loco Gringo about our concerns and where told that everything was fine, and it was. When we arrived we were blown away by the house and gardens. The architecture of the Villa Paloma is amazing. The craftsmanship of the tiled domed ceilings is like nothing I've ever seen. We have spent a lot of time in Mexico and rented many homes and often the photos present a better picture than reality, not the case here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The sunrises and ocean views from the two-story window or balconies is breathtaking. It has a great and workable kitchen, unlimited lounging space, and probably the best pool in Tankah.
The previous review from December 2011 stated the water pressure in the showers was a trickle. We had very strong pressure in every shower and sink and we used them all during the week. The beds were extremely comfortable. The ocean breeze kept us from ever needing the air conditioner. The stove did not work, they are waiting for a part to arrive, but we still cooked many wonderful meals. We hired Chef Antonio a couple of nights for fantastic and fairly priced meals. The Grouper with Guajillo Sauce followed by Bananas Flambeau was incredible. I highly recommend. Antonio even purchased fresh lobster for us which we cooked on the grill.
The service and help we received from Enrique, Rosa and Hurley made us feel at home and truly cared about. I cannot say enough about Villa Paloma and will return many times. Tankah is the perfect location for a anyone that wants a location that gives them security and privacy while being very close to Tulum, Akumal or Playa del Carmen if they want more action. We enjoy Tulum, both downtown and the beach area, but found it nice to return to the seclusion of Tankah.
For us it was a PERFECT location to recharge the brain, release stress, meet new friends and enjoy the unfolding of a life-long family memory.

Comments about LocoGringo Villa Paloma:
The property was stunning, however there were a few problems with the house that makes me glad that I was able to negotiate the cost of the house. Oven didn't work and we had planned on eating the majority of our dinners at the house. Dishwasher was not working. Tv was not working which would have been nice to watch football in the evening. Also when we were leaving the road to cancun was closed due to a bicycle race which we were not aware of we had to be the police to somehow let us travel a few hundered feet in the middle of the bike race to get us to the other side of the highway. Water pressure and temperature in the master bath, the guest suite and the downstairs bath were horrible it was pretty much just a dribble of water. The beautiful water fountain in the foyer of the house was not working which would have added to the ambiance of the house. There were various lights around the house that were not working specifically a light on the bar gave one of our friends a horrible shock when he tried to turn it on. The beds were horribly uncomfortable felt like you were sleeping on concrete slabs. We have had several trips to Mexico renting villas in different locations and I would definately NOT return to Villa Paloma.

Pictures do not do this property justice & the pictures are beautiful. Walking in the door your mouth will drop at the gorgeous view through the two story windows. Kayaking and snorkeling outside the house is perfect. Staff was exceptional. It was convenient for visiting tulum, tulum ruins, coba ruins and several cenotes.
