Comments about LocoGringo Zulum:
We were really looking for something quaint and with 18 rooms less than half full in April we found what we were looking for. I liked the location of the hotel, the entire beach front of Tulum is bike-able so we rented bikes and cruised around to the ruins, other beaches and even the bio reserve. There is plenty of shoulder room and even a path to go into Tulum pueblo. FYI it is common to see topless woman as it is excepted to be nude on Tulum beach.
Though dinner is offered, it is not very lively and we often felt like going out at night to somewhere with music. The mosquitos are terrible at night and often find there way through the mosquito net covering the bed. Bring mosquito spray, it will be worth it's weight in gold! All of Tulum is eco so no ac in MOST of the hotels which I knew when I made the reservation. However I sure wish there was a fan. We stayed in room 18 on the third floor and received no wind to cool off at night, it was stifling warm, we often slept with the door open.
The reception staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, even giving us a lift into town on a rainy night.
