the beach was pretty & lovely and unoccupied for the most part(perhaps because it was so unbelievably windy?) altho the owners pleasant. there were perhaps too many 'rules' for us and we did feel isolated. on our reserved visit the beach was extremely windy and on the interior side it was so loaded with mosquitoes, that we felt somewhat stuck in our room which was nice but too small to spend all of our time in, especially by candlelight. the communal refrigerator was too loaded with other guests beer to hold our food/drinks.the town was interestingly odd and felt deserted, at times lending ourselves to feel as if we may be in a James Jarmusch film? the restaurant we found was SUPER and the owner sweet! truly great food and a FUN TIME!
SIN DUDA was not our cup of tea but for a 'reclusive-environmentalist-type',or someone who likes to read alot, it may be just perfect! again the owners were pleasant and the place very clean & organized. we stayed only 1 of our paid/reserved 2 nights.

Once there we loved our stay. We were in the only room without a direct beach view and although there was lots of shuffling of other guests in and out of beach view rooms, we were never offered one or moved to one. Perhaps because we went through LocoGringo instead of booking directly? The setting is idyllic, house is on the beach, everyone was very friendly, plenty of activities and the Margoritas were outstanding. Robert/Margo go out of their way to ensure you have all the information you need or want to have an excellent adventure in Ixcalak. Might have just been our room which was on the road side but there was lots of traffic and road noise.
LocoGringo was efficient, prompt and provided good information about where we were going and how to get there. We drove the final couple of hours in the dark and had it not been for great directions and a wonderful greeting with encouragement from Linda at the Leaky Palapa, we probably would have given up!
