Was there during a hurricane so there was lots of rain and not enough sun. Not their fault but it influenced our stay.

I stayed in September and the Italian owners had 3 different sets of their friends staying with kids (which it says on website no kids allowed) and they made us feel not as welcome as all of their friends. We were the only Americans there.
The property was under construction so approx 20 Mexicans all over the place every day and night staring at us and one of them even exposed himself to me.

We went June 17-19th, 2010. The rooms only have fans, but we were quite comfortable sleeping. The beach was private. We practically had the beach to ourselves. The staff was great! The food was excellent.

This place is a gem. It's hands down the best food in the area. The owner and his family are so warm and helpful. And our room was great. We loved this hotel.
Loco Gringo and the staff at Posada Margherita couldn't have been more helpful. They are both available and respectful of your space. One thing to note, it's cash only, so come prepared.

Comments about LocoGringo Posada Margherita:
It would be much better for the hotel if you updated the photos because it has a much nicer vibe and finishes than are shown on your website. It's really charming and I'm a designer, so I appreciated the design and ambiance they have created. I was a little disappointed that there was no bath in the room and the sheets were very tired and stained. The lighting in our room was broken and not enough. The best thing about the place is the restaurant. The rooms could use a little makeover or freshening compared to the two other places we stayed in Tulum, for the same price. Overall, I like the property and the restaurant but would probably sleep somewhere else. Maybe the other rooms were better.
Loco Gringo did a great job except the hotel didn't know we were three people and didn't make up the single bed. Not a big deal. We thought check out was at noon, but were told at the hotel it was 11. They moved it to 11:30 for us. Customer service at the hotel is slow. I went with two people who travel alot and like to be waited on. It was not a good fit for them. I realize it's a place that moves at a slow pace so it wasn't a big deal, but I didn't like waiting so long for my morning coffee or cocktail. Some woman was fighting with the manager (owner?) the whole time. It was a little awkward to watch, interrupt, etc. There should be a receptionist or desk person that is clearly there to help and acknowledge people in a timely manner. The waiters and busboys were very nice. I think if the price was lower, they wouldn't need to change anything, but if they want to keep it where it is, behotel and maya tulum outshine PM. Zamas was less money and not as nice but the staff was very helpful and friendly.
