Comments about LocoGringo Piedra Escondida:

I have been coming to Tulum Beach for years and Piedra Escondida is still my favorite "best value" hotel. The staff is brilliant! The hotel has a private cove that keeps beach traffic out. The Italian food in the restaurant is some of the best in Tulum. Our waiter brewed a fresh pot of coffee each morning when we came in for breakfast. My boyfriend and I absolutely love Piedra Escondida. One thing, request either room 4 or 8 as they are the furthest from the road. We had room 1 and the noise from the road was really loud. Room 5 is the other room you want to stay away from. This is the only reason I can't give this hotel a 5 star review, but had we had room 4 or 8 it would have been perfect! We will certainly go back.

We were told the room would accomodate 4 people and have a palapa roof. The room was a tiny, dirty concrete box with no view, balcony or even window you could comfortably open. The place smelled strongly of sewage and was very dirty. The beds smelled like urine. It was awful. They really charge a lot for nothing. The management was terrible and will not accomodate you. We couldn't even stay there, the smell was so awful, but they charged us the full rate for two nights anyways. They wouldn't even negotiate with us to reach a resolution. The restaurant is a tourist-trap and bad value as well.

Small beach area but overall it was a great little hotel. Bar and Restaurant on site. Other restaurant just right down the beach. Very cool place. Would go back. Quite and low key.
