We stayed there the last 4 years. We keep going there for the location, it's on the beach, it's a relatively small hotel, it's quiet at night and it is in our opinion very reasonably priced.

The only 2 things we would have liked is a dresser in the room & a happy hour like most neighboring beach clubs had.
Comments about LocoGringo Hotel Mimi del Mar:
This property is only one and a half blocks from the Cozumel Ferry Terminal, the bus station, and taxi central. It is situated right on the beach and the closest street entrance to this hotel is at the bottom of Calle 4 which is only about 20 sandy steps from the Hotel office. By the way, from the bottom of Calle 4, it is less than half a block to 5th Avenue, where the bars, shopping, and peddlars you usually see on the beach in other tourist areas, try to help you spend your hard earned cash. It is a fun street to walk down, even if only to people watch. The rooms at Mimi del Mar are excellent. They are very spacious. The kitchette is small, but very functional. Although I cooked most of our breakfast and lunch meals, we did try the bar, (restaurant) on a few occasions, and found that the chef makes exceptional food. They also make the best mojitos in Playa. We had a very comfortable king size bed in our room (on the ground floor), all of the rooms have a patio, though not all have a perfectly unobstructed view of the ocean. The staff at Mimi del Mar will go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Even with its proximity to 5th avenue, the hotel was extremely quiet at night. Only on Friday and Saturday night, the bar next door (Daves Bar) had live music, old time rock and roll, but it was shut down by 10pm If you plan to make use of the kitchenette, there are a few mini-supers very close by, though if you want a grocery store, the closest is the [@]at the corner of Calle 10 and Avenida 30. By the way, its not as far as it seems, the Calles (streets) are numbered in two's, and the Avenidas (avenues) are numbered in fives so unless you require help walking, its quite do-able, or if you dont want to walk, you can turn left onto 5th avenue and beside the bus station is taxi central.Playa del Carmen restaurants are pricey, so if you are looking for a budget meal, take a walk down 5th, to the bus station. On the street beside the bus station, Calle Benito Juarez, there are authentic taco stands...12 pesos a taco,(one dollar) and they are awesome!!! Then walk a little farther down 5th, and you might see the street vendor making churros, and for 20 pesos, he will sell you a bag of these delicious sweet treats.!!! Take note...unless you drink in a bar, it is illegal for stores to sell you alcohol after 2pm on Sundays, and also...it is illegal to walk down the streets drinking alcoholic beverages. Its Ok on the beach.I would definately go back to Mimi del Mar and this is a place I would recommend to both my family and friends.

I've been to Mimi a couple times now, and would use the hotel again. The location is ideal...the beach is great, and it is central to the town whether you wish to stay on the main drag or venture into the town. My only complaints, and they are not deal breakers, is that the beach staff are more focused on pleasing the passers by who will spend money, or the hotel patrons who order lots of drinks and food. They would save the best beach chairs/umbrellas for those. The toilet in our bathroom was in a space so small between the wall and the shower that you had to back into it! A sense of humor is required, esp if you have a few extra lbs. on you!!!! Still on a budget, I would go back.
