Having had stayed on Half Moon Bay and at an AI in Akumal, I have to say that this hotel offered us the best vacation ever. We've stayed in Akumal seven times. Close proximity to one of the best and fairest priced dive shops, as well as walking distance to some very decent restaurants really helped. The deal sealer is the amazing beach location though. Staying on the ground floor and having direct access to the beach was perfect. Also took advantage of the Budha Spa. What a great stay. Will definitely be back.

This was about my 8th or 10th stay at Hotel Akumal Caribe, kind of lost count, but I always enjoy my stay here, the rooms are basic but very clean and spotless and like the old real estate saying goes:
"Location, location, location"
Just steps to the great beach and the pool is also nice, little bigger than a dipping type pool. Lots of good restaurants nearby and this year the breakfast at Lol-Ha was included in the price.
It is nice that is is just a bit south of the main bay so not as many boats and people and the hotel guests have their own section of palapas. Also the Budha Gardens Spa is just south of the pool if you feel like a massage or other type of treatment.
Things that could be improved:
Water pressure in the shower, but to be fair this can be an issue at many places in this area.
Offer sausage on the breakfast besides just bacon or ham.

We just got back from Hotel Akumal Caribe for 9 nights. Our second trip and we still love it. Beach is beautiful and people are friendly.
I do feel the rooms do need to be updated. We don't expect anything but just a little update would be nice. BUT, those maids clean those rooms and they were cleaner than fancier hotels we have been too. Breakfast is included for two people. They need to figure out the coupon for free breakfasts at Lol Ha b/c the waiters would get confused. Free internet in room. Thought it was wireless but not, ethernet. We will be back and there are alot of return customers.

Stayed 8 nts Feb 2010, people from all over Mayan coast come to snorkel and sun bathe at Akumal so a great, clean, beach front hotel with attentive staff for about $200/night!! Just book it and then book it to Club Akumal Caribe Hotel!. Villa Mayas is the same property and the same quality but no oceanfront 20 paces behind Club Akumal Caribe. 5 or 6 Restaurants, 2 minute walk away were all worth going to again. Hotel can arrange any tour, do Coba and cenote all day tour, amazing! We will return to Akumal as our new sun and sand pilgrimage every year.
