After countless visits to Hawaii, our family was ready for a change. Akumal is a beautiful part of the Yucutan and Las Casitas has the best spot on the bay. The beach is pristine . The water is warm and calm. Dive shop right next door. The surrounding village is full of shops and excellent restaurants. What more could you ask for?

We enjoyed our stay at Las Casitas. We were 5 adults and we were quite comfortable, although we did not spend much time in the casita.
The patio area was perfect for enjoying the view of the bay, and the occasional breeze. I liked that there is a drying rack for wet snorkel gear or swim wear right outside the patio door.
The beach area that is just in front of the larger casitas is perfect for lounging in the sun, and close enough to slip back to the room for a cold drink when needed.
It was easy entry into the bay for snorkeling and turtle watching was great.
Inside the condo we liked that it was light and airy, the staff kept it very clean, and there was plenty of room to hang clothing and store suitcases.
Yes, there was a hair dryer in our casita. ;)
Yes, the bed was rock hard. ;)
Yes, I am glad I brought my own pillow.
Yes, they come with a resident cat or three.
Las Casitas was a very good choice for us. We stayed during low season and the foot traffic in front of us was pretty light. We enjoyed being close to restaurants, groceries, Lucy's Ice Cream and just being able to see the action on the bay.

This was our first big vacation with our two toddlers. We were quite nervous about traveling with them, and felt we needed to be really selective about our destination. Las Casitas went far beyond our expectations: the beach was sublime, our little private patio/garden felt like a secluded paradise, it was quiet, and the condo was perfect for both my husband and me and our two children.
We definitely plan on returning, hopefully every year! The people at reception could not have been nicer, and the cleaning staff were thorough. Loved it!

I enjoyed my stay but was a bit dissapointed in the unit itself. Almost all the cuboards were locked by the owners so not much space to put things. No kettle or coffee grinder - things we like on vacation. The porch thached roof was falling apart so no real shaded space to enjoy....and those barking dogs!!!! Now that was a real pain. I come on vacation for privacy and solitude, not to hear dogs barking constantly. Too many stray cats running around and the smell of fecies was too much to bare while sitting outside. I would not recomed this unit but would certainly suggest a unit closer to the town centre, away from the dogs.
