Comments about LocoGringo Casita Sombra:

We spent two wonderful weeks at Casa Sombra in January of 2012. It was only my husband and I for this trip, so we rented the casita. The casita has plenty of room for two with a large king sized bed. The high ceilings made the living room / kitchen seem larger. We were very comfortable.
The beach is beautiful!
The first day we walked on the beach to Akumal Bay. Some of the walk is over rocks, so bring some sturdy water shoes.
The first night the bar located two doors down had a live band that started playing at 10 pm. We were pretty tired after a long day of travel and I was concerned about noise at night, but luckily the live band was a one time occurance.
We drove down to Tulum to see the Maya ruins. We swam with the turtles and snorkeled with the tropical fish.
Favorites:
Best fish tacos at La Cueva del Pescador
Best Maya vegetarian dishes at La lunita
Best desserts at Tutrle Bay cafe

Loco gringo is a GREAT vacation planning site.
Muchas gracias!

Comments about LocoGringo Casita Sombra:

The only problem was finding the place. No lighted sign for arriving in the dark. We loved the privacy of the location--lack of crowds. The beach and the water were perfect. Excellent snorkeling, swimming. Dino and his wife took good care of us. It would have been nice to have a good restaurant nearby. The place two doors over had poor food and service.

Comments about LocoGringo Casita Sombra:

This casita has just about everything needed to make your stay comfortable. Blowdryer is not listed, but is included. Oven was small and missing a pizza pan to fit it - otherwise no complaints. Bed very comfortable. Water was rough in February for snorkeling, but I understand it's much better in the spring & summer. Caretakers are lovely people. Accommodations are not luxurious, but clean and comfortable, spacious.
