Comments about LocoGringo Tropical Evergreens Casita:

My husband and I had an incredible vacation! We rented just the downstairs portion of the Casita and it was perfect. We had been to Tulum before to Puerto Morelos 2x and to Isla Holbox last year so we were very versed in the area and this was by far the nicest rental we had ever stayed in. The kitchen is incredibly well appointed. The bed very comfortable and the surrounding area gorgeous! It was just us the whole week as no one else was in the larger house closer to the beach. We grilled almost every night. It was just lovely. Maria and Vincente who live on the property and take care of the place are lovely. But keep in mind that they do not speak any English at all. So you'll need your Spanish or a good phrase book. The only small thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that there is a request asking for a specific amount for Mari & Vincente to be tipped at the end of the stay. I think that this amount should either be mentioned before you show up or included in the price of the rental. I am certainly happy to leave a tip for good service, but there is a note on the refridgerator saying that while tipping is not mandatory that $10/day is standard depending on the "level of service you feel Mari and Vincente have given you". Well that doesn't fee very voluntary to me. I feel as though if it had simply been mentioned prior to my arrival I would have been fine but to show up and then find out that the price was really an additional $70 week for good service I found frustrating. I would much prefer that the host had been upfront, otherwise do not say that house cleaning is included in the price. Because Mari & Vincente are amazing. It's really a minor annoyance. But I feel as though tipping has become ubiquitous and I would have appreciated a more upfront approach. AWESOME place. We really had an amazing time!!

Lots of building noise next door, power saws all day and into the early hours of the evening, tenant in front had no regard for other people staying on the property, young child crying and screaming on most nights

Comments about LocoGringo Tropical Evergreens Casita:

The casita is ideal for 2! With a great/simple kitchen, comfortable bed and ample room to relax, it was just what we had hoped for. And because the proprietors do not book the upstairs without the downstairs we had the casita to ourselves and, after asking caretakers Mari & Vicente, enjoyed using the upstairs patio for meals and reading (the living space remained locked...) The beach is about 30 yards from the front door and Vicente takes great care of the property, front to back! We look forward to returning, perhaps with a group of friends!!!
