Perfect location on the best, cleanest stretch of beach. Excellent restaurant, happy hour, and beach lounging opportunities. Rooms were not "overly spacious", but there was plenty of room. Conveniently located for other restaurants, but not in the noisy crowded area. We loved it.

This place is truly magical. It is right on the beach. The restaurant sits on the sand on the beach. The food is delicious and the waitstaff is very very friendly. The prices are good. The AC is only on from 7:45 pm to 7:45am though. And it gets HOT quickly. Sometimes the power goes out in general during the day. So you should know what your getting yourself into. But the sleep at night is very pleasant.
We got there on July 21. We had rented a deluxe ocean front room. When I got there they said the rooms had been flooded a few weeks before and though construction was supposed to be done, it was not and probably would not be done for the duration of our trip. The girl at the front desk offered us free dinner and deluxe accommodations at their sister hotel in Playa del Carmen which was just 8 minutes by car to the beach. A much nicer and fancier hotel. Or we could stay in one of the rooms behind the ocean front rooms at a cheaper price.
We were bummed. But we had no desire to go to Playa del Carmen which is a very big city. And we wanted to be by the beach. Initially I was pretty upset because I felt duped. And I watched through the trip, this same girl tell several other vacationers the same story... who were also pretty upset.
Anyway
We went to the restaurant on the sand and had an incredible 3 hour lunch sitting in the breeze and eating incredible food and watching the beautiful ocean and decided to stay.
We were very glad we did. There was construction going on the whole time, but only during the day, and the sound was mostly drowned out by the ocean.
The manager moved us to a smaller ocean front bungalow after our second night. And honestly. That room was heaven. It is not huge. But the bed was very comfortable and the room opens up onto the beach and the sand. And you can lay on your own hammock.
My husband and I walked the beach over and over again. It goes on for a few miles. It was so relaxing. Not many people. I truly adore this place. I would go back in a heart beat.

My wife and I stayed for a week in what seemed like heaven. The helpful staff was top notch, the food gourmet and the beach was gorgeous! The room was clean and the property tended to daily. As we walked the coastline we noticed that Cabanas Tulum was the cleanest around.

Truly right on the beach. Only 2 rows of cabanas, & they're offset so everyone has a nice view of the sea. Simple, clean rooms, HOT water, kind staff. Beach Club part of it so service on the beach, dining tables, too. FULL breakfast incl. Food good. In the middle of the stretch of Tulum Playa places, so convenient to walking all over the beach & checking out other restaurants. Fluent Engl speakers at front desk, if you don't speak Spanish. I'net wireless & cell worked great, no tv or radio or cd in room, & only shower, no tub, so if those things are important, don't go to Tulum - most places are primitive & these Cabanas are an effort to be eco & still modern. I got a MUCH-NEEDED rest, & as a single, petite woman, felt very safe. I definately want to go again.

great location, you step out of your cabana right onto the sand, the water is about 50 yards from your front door. The beach is beautiful, white white sand and aquamarine water. No snorkeling to speak of though.
The restuarant ziggy beach bar assosiated with these cabanas was quite good but really,really slow even for the tropics and expensive but luckly breakfast was included and we were able to order what ever we wanted.
We found that the whole Tulum beach area was expensive even by our standards and we live in a ski resort community in Colorado. So we ate in Tulum itself a few nights but without a car this means the added expense of a taxi.
The linens at the cabanas are in need of renewal, some of the towels had holes in them and our sheets smelled smokey.
Overall we had a very relaxing nice time there but compaired to other areas along this coast it is quite expensive.
