We loved the Ocean Maya. It wasn't the biggest property around, but it had all the ammennities that we needed. We were spoiled there and enjoyed the pool, the grounds, and the area. While it isn't a place where you'd go do a lot of swimming in the ocean, it's fine to walk on the boardwalk and do your swimming in the pools.

We asked for a Mattress Topper and they brought us a pillow-top and that helped a great deal. They also had our room decorated for our honeymoon and gave us the Romantic Dinner which was amazing (2nd story beachfront gazebo and a multi-course dinner with all the trimmings).

The kid free environment was great for us going as a couple to celebrate our Honeymoon. We loved the shows they put on nightly. They were entertaining and we tended to be impressed with the local/cultural talent they were able to bring in.

We rented a car in Playa del Carmen and took a day to explore Tulum and Coba. That was a blast, and about all the time we needed to be away from the property.

I was married at the Ocean Maya in 2010, and I would recommend it to anyone. There was twenty of us in our party, and no-one had anything but nice things to say about the resort. It was further from Playa than we expected, but it was a cheap cab ride there from the resort.
