Our trip started great. Upon check-in we were told that all the rooms were sold out but we would get an upgrade, which turned out to be a wonderful room. The housekeeping staff are fabulous and very accomidating. In fact, so much so that they should be running the front desk and concierge desk.
Having said that, I have never been treated to such disrespect trying to make a dinner reservation! If you make reservation, make sure you get your print out, otherwise you are SOL. It is our fault we lost the slip, but it is in a computer and we were confused as to why it couldn't be looked up that way. No problem, we'll just make new ones. That turned out to be more of a hassle than it is worth. I was told that in order to make new reservations, I had to come the next morning at 8am. I did and low and behold, no one was there. If I am on a vacation, I don't want to rise early to go make a reservation for dinner, much less wait for staff who told me "8 means 8, not 8:30.". I am your guest! Not your child or an unruly individual.
The towel policy is one that I completely understand, however if you go in the water, or a walk on the beach, you risk losing your spot because if you leave your towels, staff will collect them and tell you that you will have to pay $20 to get your card back. When we asked what to do since our towels were gone, we were told that we shouldn't have left them there in the first place. Huh????? So be aware that it's a way for the resort to make money. Bring your own towels!
This was our second stay at this resort and I will not go back.

We got a great room, the last one on the bottom floor 1100 building. We could walk right out of the sliding glass door to the beach. This isn't a five star resort, but it is certainly worth what they charge. The room was always cleaned very nicely.
The restaurants vary in quality. We felt the Mexican restaurant was the best
The buffet was ok, nothing special but the beach bar and snack bar were great. Burgers, pizza, guacamole, salads. Available all during the day and then they opened after the show.
An added benefit is that you can go to the other Wyndham property, Viva Azteca, down the street a ways. I thought their buffet was much better and we are staying there in Sept (incredible rate for Sept. under $60 a person, all inclusive!!!)
When we arrived and were looking for our room we must have looked lost since the manager of one of the restaurants came up and walked us right to our room then he invited us to come have dinner at the Mexican Restaurant. It was very good and the staff was attentive and made the meal fun.
Almost everyone we had contact with was very polite and helpful. The front desk was a little hectic and the restaurant reservations are hit and miss. Be persistent and you can get what you need. The mexican restuarant at Maya and the Japanese restaurant at Azteca were my favorites.
Bartenders were quick and friendly and would make the drink as strong as you can handle it. Many top shelf brands at no extra cost.
Booked through locogringo and had no problems whatsoever.

We had our 2nd annual college reunion for 3 nights in the end of May. Funny, there were two other group reunions going on at the same time. We were all housed in the same building, same floor...easy simple check in. There were 28 of us and all of us were able to find something we enjoyed to eat. Bars were great and we found the lobby bar to be the best. Participated in activities, night shows and did the disco one night where the DJ even played one of our favorite CD's. We got a great deal with Loco Gringo and it was value for $. We plan to go back next year for our annual reunion.

No food or drinks of any kind available close to the lobby during our 5:30 AM checkout. Bus was an hour late picking us up - not even a drink available during our wait! They took our bracelets at checkout so even if the buffet was open we could not eat.
Buffet was hot making it very uncomfortable to eat.
Air conditioner in room was so noisy we had to shut it off at night so we could sleep.
