the alcohol is so watered down and probably fake that all in our party felt lied to.
food, the help , the rooms , the resort itself was exellent but when you are charging the amounts you are to serve fake, watered down alcohol is a slap in the fae.
Do you think we cant tell ???
If you are promising all the food and alcohol you want then dont disrespect us by serving what you are.
It is false advertising to have the original bottles filled with your watered down mixturres - If you were in the USA it would easily be criminal.
None of my party will ever return.

Overall the resort is an excellent place to stay. SUPER friendly staff, really clean grounds, incredible pool and great food. My ONLY knock on the resort is the drinks are super weak so if you're looking to get hammered it won't happen there. However, this was NOT a big deal as we just got some booze out in town and were NOT really looking to get that maxed. This was our 2nd trip there (this time without the kids) and we absolutely LOVED IT. Additionally, if you are looking for a place to take your entire family is this the place for sure. There is so much to do for both adults and kids you'll all be in heaven. I highly recommend this resort!!!

This resort was just okay !!! It certainly IS NOT a 5 STAR !! More like a 3 and 1/2. The Barcello Maya is a 5 STAR. I would never stay here again.

The buffets were okay, not great though as they variety of foods offered each day didn't change much. The a-la-cartes were outstanding and it was nice that you could dine at a differen one each night rather than be limiting to choose just 3 or 4 for your entire trip. We didn't like the fact that you had to take the tram to get around the resort as it was very confusing to walk it yourself - signage could have been better. The other pro was that there was a ton a palm trees on the beach so lots of shade if you wanted to grab some or a quiet corner away from the noisy pools, etc. The pool staff were good at getting people involved in activities, too. The resort has a lot of nature/animals on it which was nice for the kids to see. We didn't like the raccoons at the seafood restaurant at night but the ambience of that restaurant is very, very nice right beside the ocean.
The rooms were nice except the shower never drained well (we did complain about that but it was never fixed) and I suspect it was not "cleaned" thoroughly each day either but with the dark marble tile you just could really tell - no bleach/clean smell even though.
The bar fridge was only stocked with water, pop and beer. They could have offered cookies, chips, granola bars, etc. as a nice addition.
The beds were not turned down every night but they did provide beautiful towel art - every single day!! A couple days, our rooms were not even made up yet when we came back from the pool in the late afternoon (4:00) when we were looking to get showers and get cleaned up for supper. Hard to do with no clean towels, etc.
Overall, we give this resort a 4 star rating.
We found a lot of the staff couldn't speak very good english and they were not as helpful as they could have been. The waiters/waitresses were not attentive at the buffets but at the restaurants, they were good. The front desk staff seemed very knowledgeable about excursions, general questions we had. Overall, we can't give this resort a 5 star rating as the service could have been better and the food in the buffets could have been better, too. The lunch grills only offered "greasy" type limited lunch options which would have been better to offer more there, too.

Even though this is a HUGE resort, it doesn't feel overwhelming and it's fun to explore all it has to offer. A-la-carte restaurants are hit or miss sometimes but we enjoyed most of them. Some rooms are quite far from the beach, pool and dining, etc. so be prepared to walk. The grounds are really nice, though, so you have an excuse to walk off the extra calories.
