Comments about LocoGringo Akumal Beach Resort:

WE CHOSE THIS RESORT BECAUSE OF THE SNORKELLING-BEACH WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC, CLEAN RESORT, BEAUTIFULLY MANICURED, SMALL ENOUGH THAT EVERYTHING IS CLOSE BY....
THE SEWER GAS SMELL OUTSIDE OUR ROOMS 509 AND 510 WAS GROSS AND EVERY DAY-COULD NOT OPEN DOOR AND PATIO DOOR FOR A BREEZE OR SIT ON OUR DECK BECAUSE OF THE SMELL AT TIMES, ALSO NOISY PIPES ALL DAY AND NIGHT LIKE WATER/LIQUID PASSING THROUGH ??
FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, KIDS ENJOYED THE SNACK BAR TOO, I BIT DOWN ON A PLASTIC "JESUS" OF WHICH I'M TOLD IT WAS A TRADITIONAL BREAD-CHOKING/BROKEN TEETH ANYONE?? SHOULD BE LABELED NEXT TIME!!!
I WOULD GO BACK FOR THE SNORKELLING BUT THE SEWER GAS SMELL WAS TOO MUCH, ALSO, WE WOULD HAVE LIKED A FRIDGE IN OUR ROOM

Comments about LocoGringo Akumal Beach Resort:

Service was very good considering the decline of the property. Food is school cafeteria quality and we struggled to find half way descent food every day. blankets were stained and A/C was spotty. We did enjoy the beach and the city. Always felt safe and the staff was very nice.

Comments about LocoGringo Akumal Beach Resort:

Parts of the property look run down from the beach. Buildings not in use should be removed. We stayed in room 533. The first day the toilet was plugged. The staff fixed right away. Later in the week the water was off early in the morning. The staff fixed right away. We were there for 10 days and the A/C didn't work the entire time. This was ironic because we originally requested building 6, but were told we were assigned to building 5 because the A/C was not working in building 6. Some ammenities in the room would be nice, like a coffee maker and alarm clock. The patio door did not work because the frame was not attached to the floor. The food at the buffet was average. The desserts were really bad except for the flan. Jello milk??? Seriously? Occasionally they made something really good. There were a couple of stewed chicken dishes that were excellent, and the omelets in the morning were really good. Does Mexico not have bagels or English muffins? Doughnuts? One evening they were grilling Amberjack filets. This was very good, but I asked the cook not to overcook the fish so it wasn't dried out like the other times they offered grilled fish.
We went to the theater one time. It had such a strong smell of paint varnish that I thought I would become ill. We really weren't too interested in the theater or entertainment options anyway, so this was not a big deal.

We really loved the small size of the resort. We loved that no matter what part of the beach we were lounging on, there was a bar and a restroom nearby. We loved that the bartenders were not stingy with alcohol. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip. We travel often, and Akumal is a very unique place. There is a lack of lodging on the bay that provides a good value and a quiet beach.

I would recommend this to a friend, but it would depend on the friend. It would not be suitable for people looking for a more luxurious experience, but our camping friends would probably like it.
