Comments about LocoGringo Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa:
My friend and I are seasoned Riviera Maya vacationers and we have been to several resorts on this coast, many of them Excellence Resorts. Our check in got off to a rough start. Once we checked in at the desk and received our pager that would light up when our room was ready, we were told to go to another desk to receive discount coupons for the spa. Apparently, this chain of resorts is now selling "vacation packages" (new phrase for time shares?) to be used throughout the year. We sat through a ten minute introduction inviting us to a meeting to learn more. We politely declined and left with our coupons. After waiting 3 hours at the beach bar for our pager to light up (which was time well spent with our old friends tequila and sangrita) we finally went to the reception and were given a room with a king bed instead of the double beds we requested, but because it was an upgrade to an ocean view (bonus!) we decided to keep the room. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The beds are luxurious. The food at this resort is very good. We especially enjoyed the Japanese restaurant and the Oceana Grill for dinner. The breakfast buffet selection is endless. For lunch, my fave was the paella served by the pool - it is delicious! The service was also good at all the bars and we received butler service while in the hot tub and out on the beach. The spa is amazing! We referred to it as "the womb" because the outside world is totally blocked out. Our massages were the best part of our stay! Overall, I would highly recommend this resort to families looking for an upscale resort experience. I can't recommend it for couples because there is not a pool nor a section of rooms designated for adults only. The only adult areas are the hot tubs, Desires Lounge and the spa.
