Great family resort

We thought the evening entertainment was earsplittingly loud and therefore unpleasant. Given the small number of people in the theatre, we may not have been the only ones shunning the overly loud music.

That said, almost everything else was great. The buffets had variety, appetizing food, well displayed. The staff made sure we were comfortable and well treated. The beach was excellent. We would have liked some informal regional ambiance, such as strolling mariachis.

Love the Barcelo Maya Colonial

December 2009 was our 4th stay at the Barcelo Maya Colonial. We love this resort even though we are not big resort people. It is a beautiful resort with an incredible beach. This place is great for families. The only thing I was not thrilled about was the on-site dive shop.
