Comments about LocoGringo Gran Bahia Principe Coba:

This was our first time to an all inclusive hotel. We usually rent a house or condo in Akumal so we enjoy a more laid back vacation. We felt we could be just as casual as we liked here. For those that like to dress up, there are many options for that as well. We had read many reviews about hard beds, but we didn't find the beds to be as hard as most that we've slept on in the area. We appreciated the many dining options and thought that generally, the food was very good. At any time day or night, you could get something to eat or drink. Shopping at the Hacienda seemed to be on par with any other shopping in the touristy areas. Tip-use the atm at the Hacienda if you need to get pesos. The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms were nice. We were ground floor and we had zero problems with noise. Though we knew it when we booked, the Coba is far from the beach. We didn't think it would make a difference, but found that we didn't go to the beach much because it just wasn't convenient. We did enjoy hanging out by the pool though.

Comments about LocoGringo Gran Bahia Principe Coba:

Just returned from a week at GBP-Coba. Have stayed there before. DW had thoroughly enjoyed our previous visits. Stayed at COBA section because we enjoy the accommodations there. Biggest issue while we were there was that on Wednesday afternoon(just after returning from the beach) a service technician appeared at our door to "test the thermostat." OK-- let the guy in . Big mistake -- He proceeded to replace and rewire the (before that time a perfectly operational thermostat). From that point onward, the choices were to let the A/C run continuously (read hanging meat in a meat locker) or no A.C at all (read eventually the humidity becomes intolerable). DW suffers from asthma. One of her activation issues in temperature/humidity extremes. Complained to guest services. Was told - "We will see to this immediately." By Thursday no action had been taken. Called maintenance department to complain. Again, we were told that the problem would be taken care of immediately. No action taken. Wrote letter of complaint to general manager and hand delivered to the man. Was told that he would see to this immediately. We left on Sunday. At the time we vacated our room, no action had been taken. Terribly disappointed in the response of the facility. Actually was told by someone that we had requested that the unit be wired to run continuously. That was simply an outright lie because until the time the thermostat was "inspected" we were as snug as a bug in a rug.

Comments about LocoGringo Gran Bahia Principe Coba:

This resort is not great if you like doing many things in one day, for example on the beach for a couple hours, then into town etc. You spend more time on the trollies than enjoying Mexico. It is also not for the directionally challenged as I ended up getting lost many times on the winding paths. Buffet was good with a great selection, but one gets tired of buffets after a week. The Brazilian ala carte is highly recommended. Staff was friendly and the hotel rooms were always clean. Would recommend to anyone who plans to spend most of their vacation "on resort"
