While I was at Ocean Turquesa for only 3 nights (out of a 7 night stay) as a travel agent, I visited 30 or more properties in the Mayan Riviera. The Ocean Turquesa (Privilege) exceeded every other property I viewed. This is why I am headed back with a group of friends in 2011.

Comments about LocoGringo H10 Ocean Coral and Turquesa:

I'm not sure how well suited these people are to run a hotel, but If I ever want to open a concentration camp I will know exactly who to call. 6 days of their punitive, complete lack of customer service was more than enough for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Cancun and have been there several times, I realize sometimes you order a cup of decaf and it comes 20 minutes later or not at all and I'm fine with that, that's why they have tequila. This hotel is different though, and being in marketing that got me thinking, what might be a good branding line for this place… I know "how can I NOT help you" here are a few sweet examples:
1) (Japanese restaurant) Would it be ok for us to push these tables together so we can eat as a family?
Reply: Sorry sir we can't do that.
2) (Towel hut) These towels got wet in the rain can we get some new ones please?
Reply: You can only get one towel per day, per person sir.
3) (Main Outdoor Bar)I'll have a beer and a virgin mud slide for my son
Reply: We can't do that sir, only virgin Pina Colada . (got one the day before though)
4) (Sports club) Can I get 2 orders of fries to go?
Reply: Sorry sir you have to eat them here (but were just going to sit outside by the pool?)
5) (Front Desk) Could I exchange this 10 dollar bill for pesos ?
Reply: we can't do that because this bill is too worn? (it had like one microscopic tear in it)
6) (Lobby Bar) Can I have 4 bottled water please?
Reply: Sorry sir no bottled water until after ten o'clock
This would be funny if it didn't happen anytime you asked anybody for anything. I will not bore you with them but I have at least 20 more examples of this. The hotel is nicer than some I've been to but whoever designed its layout and pool area is certifiable. You can see everywhere you want to go, you simply can't get there because they have hedge rows dividing everything, (this must be to prevent escape). The pool is literally 20 feet away but you need to walk 200 yards around the hedges to get to it. Also the hedges are between the pool and the beach, blocking your view with only 2 small access points. As far as the rooms go, they would be perfect for a family of nudists. A large picture window separates the toilet/shower from the rest of the room's inhabitants. (Sweet) There are 5 or six restaurants to choose from but stick to the buffet because you can't get reservations for them. I actually was told to get there at 6 to ensure a reservation. So I arrived at 5:30, after waiting my ½ hour I was told they don't take reservations.
In summary Mexico… Awesome, especially Cancun, but this place Turquasa (from the root terrible casa) is only interested in their profit and not your vacation. They actually have the ceiling fans on timers so you wake up four or five times a night, hot and sweaty, and have to flail your arms and legs wildly to get them to start up again. They purposely don't re-stock your refrigerator on the day you check out. They advertise that kids 12 and younger are free, but then charge you for them hoping you won't notice. This happened to two families I know of. There gift shop so is outrageously priced that even the people at the airport are blushing. I did pick up a sweet can of bug spray for 14.75 though. Stick to the newer hotels in Cancun. Their pricing and availability of things is much better.

Comments about LocoGringo H10 Ocean Coral and Turquesa:

We where so excited until we arrived at the hotel! It was AWFUL, AWFUL, and AWFUL!!!! When we arrived we waited over an hour in line to check in, then they told us our room wasn't ready and it'd be another 20 mins. (By this time it's almost 4pm on Saturday). We also then paid for the "privileged upgrade". While we where waiting for our room, a lady from the H10 hotel came up to us, I told her straight out we are not interested in timeshares or vacation packages, she then tells me "since we upgraded to a privilege guest that all privilege guest met for breakfast and have a tour of what we have special access to and it'll only take an hour we are not trying to sell anything". So we where to met at 8:30am Sunday for the "tour".Meanwhile our room was ready, they handed us our room key and said "go down the stairs turn left" it took us another 35-45 mins to find our room in this resort, no one showed us where it was or offered to help with baggage. The tub in the room was broke and the view was of the run down tennis court, it was not what we expected! The next morning we headed down to this "tour" at 8am, we ate breakfast had a tour then we where lead into a meeting area where our tour guide, who was downing shots of tequila, tried to sell us a "vacation package/timeshare". When we told him we where not interested and was not going to buy anything, and we told that lady straight out when she spoke with us yesterday he became upset and got another lady to come over and try to tell us why we needed to buy this package! This went on for 3 hours before they decided to let us leave after I had a broke down. After complaining about the condition of our room and paying for "privileged" guest status they told us they where going to get us a different room after we had to pay them even more money for the upgrade! They told us to pack up our things, leave them on the bed, to unlock the safe and everything would be moved to our new room which was available it just needed cleaned. We left at 11am , went to town and arrived back to the hotel at 4pm, where they tell us that it would be another 1.5 hours until our new room was ready! We asked them where our bags where so that we could change and go to the beach while we waited and we where told they where in the new room but we would not have access to them until 5:30pm! Once we got into our new room, we had a bottle of Tequila we where saving for our last night that we left in our safe of our first room, like we where told to do so that they would move it to our new room, well it was no where to be found. We called the front desk and they told us they had no idea where it is and they would check lost and found. Needless to say we never saw the bottle of tequila again. They kept telling us it wasn't there fault, nothing was there fault. Honestly it was the worst vacation we have ever been on and I can't even begin to describe how upset I am right now, we spent a good amount of money on something that was nothing like it was sold to us. We where able to enjoy 1 day of our entire trip and I will never recommend H10 hotels to anyone ever! I wish we wouldn't have wasted our time or money on this place.
